
ASA Security Human Rights Policy

1. Introduction
At ASA Security, we are firmly committed to upholding and promoting human rights across our operations and supply chains. We recognize that respecting human rights is fundamental to our business integrity, the well-being of our employees, and the sustainability of the communities where we operate.
Our approach ensures that services are delivered with respect for our people, clients, and the wider communities we serve. This includes protecting the rights of those living around our facilities and within the supply chains that support our services.
ASA supports and complies with the:

2. Scope
This policy applies to all ASA Security employees, operations, and facilities globally. We also work to ensure that our subcontractors and service providers understand and align with these principles within their own business practices.

4. Policy Provisions
4.1. Human Rights Impact Assessment
We conduct Human Rights Impact Assessments at least every three years and before major projects. These assessments emphasize:

4.2. Diversity and Inclusion
We value diversity and enforce a strict non-discrimination policy. Employment decisions are based solely on merit, including qualifications, experience, and performance. Disrespect, harassment, or unfair treatment based on personal attributes or beliefs is not tolerated.
4.3. Health and Safety
We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace. We comply with applicable health and safety laws and continually engage employees in identifying and addressing workplace risks.
4.4. Wages and Benefits
We ensure competitive compensation in compliance with applicable wage, working hours, and benefits laws. All employees are paid at least the National Living Wage.
4.5. Workplace Security
We maintain a secure environment, prohibiting violence, harassment, and unsafe behaviors. A zero-tolerance policy is enforced, with appropriate measures to investigate and resolve incidents.
4.6. Bullying and Harassment
All forms of bullying and harassment are strictly prohibited. Incidents must be reported via our incident reporting or whistleblowing systems and will be investigated by senior management.
4.7. Disciplinary Process
Our disciplinary processes are fair, transparent, and compliant with Nigerian labour law and fundamental human rights.
4.8. Freedom of Association
We respect employees’ rights to form or join trade unions without fear of reprisal and engage in constructive dialogue with legally recognized representatives.
4.9. Freedom of Movement
We uphold employees’ freedom of movement and ensure any restrictions are lawful, necessary, and proportionate.
4.10. Community Engagement
We engage constructively with communities where we operate, addressing concerns at the local level and promoting economic opportunity through local employment and initiatives.
4.11. Maternity Protection
We support the rights of pregnant women and comply fully with Nigerian labour law regarding maternity protection.
4.12. Government Security Forces
We adhere to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, monitoring interactions with government security forces and reporting any violations.
4.13. Use of Force
ASA does not use or carry weapons. Personnel are trained to use the minimum necessary force only when no other option exists, prioritizing withdrawal and de-escalation. Excessive force is strictly prohibited.
4.14. Child Labour
We do not employ individuals under 18 and actively work to prevent child labour in our supply chains through due diligence and monitoring.
4.15. Forced Labour and Human Trafficking
All forms of forced labour and human trafficking are strictly prohibited, including bonded, military, and slave labour.
4.16. Support for Victims of Modern Slavery
We provide pathways to remedy, justice, and compensation for victims of forced labour or trafficking, and maintain systems for reporting such concerns.
4.17. Overtime Practices
We prohibit compulsory overtime and respect legal requirements around working hours, rest periods, and work-life balance.
4.18. Recruitment Fees
We do not allow employees to bear recruitment-related costs and work with partners to eliminate exploitative practices.
4.19. Identification Documents
Employees retain full control over their personal identification documents. We do not withhold passports or permits under any circumstances.
4.20. Whistleblowing
Our whistleblowing policy enables confidential reporting of human rights violations or unethical conduct. Reports are investigated and addressed responsibly.
4.21. Termination Rights
Employees may freely resign or terminate their employment in accordance with applicable laws, without reprisal or unreasonable barriers.
4.22. Reporting Non-Compliance
All breaches of this policy will be investigated by executive management. Reports may be made through management channels or the whistleblowing system.
4.23. Training and Awareness
All employees must undergo annual briefings on this policy and sign an acknowledgment of understanding and compliance.

This policy is reviewed regularly to reflect evolving standards and best practices in human rights. We actively seek feedback and collaboration with employees, stakeholders, and partners to strengthen our approach.
